Boracay
Beaches, there are more than a dozen unique
beaches on this lovely tropical Island. They all
have the same powdery white sand for with the island
is famous around the world. The most well-known
beach is the four-kilometer ling white beach, below
we have listed these Beaches with a short
description of each.
My wife and I have been to Boracay as recently as
April and July 2006, spending 2 weeks on each trip,
we did visit each one of these beaches in person,
and have found, Puka Shell Beach to be by far, the
nicest. If you are looking for a very clean,
pristine beach with powder soft sand, and absolute
quite, then this Boracay beach is for you.
White Beach – Boracay
White Beach is the longest and most popular beach on
Boracay. The main appeal here is its world famous
fine sparkling white sand. This 4km stretch of
powdery white sand is fringed by coconut trees and
lined with plenty of casual beach bars and
restaurants. Some of the popular
Boracay Activities
here are Windsurfing, Canoeing, Banana Boat and
Beach Volleyball. It is also a perfect spot for
sunbathing or simply relaxing. At night, Boracay
beach remains busy with its everlasting nightlife.
Diniwid Beach – Boracay
Diniwid Beach, (once known as Artista Beach back in
the early 1980's) is located at the northwestern
side of White Beach, the two beaches are separated
by a rocky cliff, connected only by a very narrow
footpath carved into the rocky Cliffside.
Diniwid Beach offers a 200 meter shoreline that is
just a 15 minute walk away from the start of the
famous White beach, "Boracay Beach". Quiet, and
somewhat deserted compared to white beach, and with
the absence of noise, it is suitable for family
vacations and honeymooners. Some visitors said it is
a good place for snorkeling as well.
Diniwid Beach is considered to be an exclusive type
beach, one seeking up-scale resorts and wide
beachfronts would really like Diniwid. New Resorts,
like Artista Boracay
Resort, Nami Boracay, call this beautiful
beachfront home.
Diniwid Beach
still offers a few inexpensive native type bamboo
houses and cottages, like
Mika's Place who have been on Boracay since
the early 1980's.

Puka Shell Beach – Boracay
On the north coast of Boracay, lies the Puka Shell
Beach, also known as Yapak Beach. This 1300 meters
long sandy white beach is the second largest beach
on Boracay after White Beach. As its name suggest,
it is famous for its Puka shell, which is used by
locals to build Necklaces, anklets and bracelets.
Large amounts of Puka shells were collected from the
beach during the 60s and 70s as these shell were
popular for the jewelry fashion at that time. In the
1970's Liz Taylor made the Puka Shell famous in
Hollywood and the world, by wearing them and drawing
attention to there natural beauty.
Today the Puka shell is endangered and it is against
Philippines law to remove Puka shells from the
beach. Although there is hardly any Puka shells on
the beach today, one can still find some if you look
hard enough.
Puka shell beach is much quieter than White beach,
and a lot more beautiful with slightly stronger
waves and the water depth quickly increases here.
One needs to be very careful swimming at Puka shell
beach.
Today Puka Shell beach is home to Eco Village, a 15
room, four star resort located on a hill overlooking
the Sulu Sea, with each of the rooms offering a
breathtaking view.

Bolabog Beach – Boracay
The two mile wide Bolabog beach on the east coast of
Boracay is the best place for Kitesurfing,
windsurfing and other water sport activities on the
island. The water here is only chest deep in most
places, and fringed by coral reefs. It is too
shallow for swimming, but ideal for windsurfing and
kite boarding. The perfect wind condition from
October until May brings hundreds of windsurfers to
gather here. Other popular activities here are
parasailing and Kitesurfing. Bolabog beach is also
suitable for relaxing and kicking back, as it is
less hectic and more preserved compared to White
beach on the western side of Boracay Island.
Bolabog means, (not clear) in Aklanon. You will see
different spellings of the word, but in Aklan, this
is how it is spelled.
